The Rail Vehicles Institute "TABOR" is the only unit realizing the works related to the designing, constructing and testing of the rail vehicles comprehensively in Poland. It has been in existence on the market since 1945. It acts based on the Act on the Research and Development Units, and the Economy Minister supervises the activity of the Institute.
The working personnel, from the beginning of existence of the company, is the most important resource of the IPS "TABOR". That thanks to the people it is possible the constant development of the company and putting the new ideas into practice. Most rail vehicles, operated on the Polish tracks, is the work of the specialists of the Institute both in the construction and in the tests. 24 research workers, including 6 professors, are employed in the Institute.
The research and development personnel is on the trainings in the well-known European companies producing and testing the railway rolling stock. Many specialists of the Institute are appointed to participation in the domestic and international organization of the railway rolling stock, among other things ERRI (European Rail Research Institute) and UIC (Union Internationale des Chemins de fer).
Caring for the high essential level of the works the IPS "TABOR" keeps cooperating with many universities and the other scientific, research and development units and it keeps the constant contacts with the producers of the railway rolling stock at home and abroad. Within its activity the IPS "TABOR" publishes the scientific publications of the railway sector of industry and the quarterly "Rail Vehicles".
